Volunteer Requirements & Training

  1. Background Check – All volunteers with regular and repetitive interaction with our youth must complete a background check. You will be sent a link to complete your background check when you register as a core volunteer through the Lake Murray Little League website. This is your first priority to complete. Please register as a volunteer as soon as you know you’ll be volunteering so we can begin the process.
  2. Skills and Safety Clinics – At the start of each Spring Season, several in-person clinics are offered around the district. For all Managers and Coaches Little League International requires this clinic to be attended in-person at minimum once within three years, with at least one Manager/Coach per team attending during the current year. Important: For tournament play, if any manager or coach is not up to date with this certification, they will not be permitted to coach during the tournament. Team Parents who will be assisting with players in the dugout must attend the safety portion of an in-person clinic with the same timing requirements. An online version of the clinic will be offered for those who have completed the in-person clinic within the last two years.
  3. Abuse Awareness Training – This is an annual, 20-minute online training requirement. Please complete this free training and forward your completion certificate via email to your division coordinator.
  4. Concussion Training – This is a one-time, 20-minute online training on concussion protocol in youth sports. Please complete this free training and forward your completion certificate via email to your division coordinator.
  5. Sudden Cardiac Arrest Training – This is a one-time, 20-minute training on Sudden Cardiac Arrest in youth sports. Please complete this free training and forward your completion certificate via email to your division coordinator.
  6. Little League Diamond Leader Training – The Little League Diamond Leader Training Program is a free educational resource that helps coaches understand the mental, social, and emotional well-being of young athletes. It includes detailed information, interactive scenarios, and helpful resources for coaches and volunteers. Completion of this program is required for all upper division managers and coaches, specifically for tournament play and is highly encouraged for all volunteers.

Thank you for completing these important requirements that help ensure a safe, positive, and supportive environment for every LMLL player. For any questions about these requirements, email: [email protected] & [email protected]
